Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown.
Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking applications for a full-time Associate Professor of Digital Arts in the School of Business, Computer Technology, English, Mathematics, and Personal Services. We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered faculty member with expertise in digital design and emerging media who is committed to preparing the next generation of creative professionals. The chosen candidate will be required to teach classes on our Conway campus as well as online.
Responsibilities:
Student Engagement and Support
- Teach courses in Digital Arts, including (but not limited to) graphic design, digital illustration, multimedia production, and related software applications (Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.)
- Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for careers in creative industries
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to support student success, retention, and career readiness
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking
- Guide students in building professional portfolios and connecting with transfer or workforce opportunities
Professional Expectations
- Maintain currency in digital arts, design technology, and teaching best practices
- Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to departmental, school, and college service, including committee work, student recruitment, and community outreach
- Collaborate with colleagues to advance the mission of the Business, Computer Technology, English, Mathematics, and Personal Services Division
- Demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, and a commitment to HGTC’s values of excellence, integrity, and innovation

Minimum Requirements: |
Bachelor's degree in Digital Arts, Graphic Design, Media Arts, or a closely related field with a strong emphasis on computer applications such as Photoshop, Illustrators, Quark, Dreamweaver, and Flash, plus five (5) years related work experience.
