Job Description:

Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking a qualified and experienced Residential Service Plumbing Instructor. The instructor will teach courses related to residential plumbing systems, service and repair, and code compliance. This position involves classroom and hands-on lab instruction, curriculum development, student assessment, and industry engagement to ensure students are prepared for employment and apprenticeship opportunities in the plumbing trade.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in residential service plumbing, including diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of water supply, drainage, and fixtures.
  • Teach plumbing codes, blueprint reading, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and organized lab environment with functional plumbing mockups.
  • Develop and revise curriculum to reflect current industry standards and licensing requirements.
  • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and student recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with local plumbing employers and apprenticeship programs.

  • Proficiency in residential plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Classroom management and instructional planning.
  • Basic computer literacy for grading and instructional materials.

Required Knowledge

  • Residential plumbing systems including water heaters, fixtures, piping, and drainage.
  • Plumbing codes and standards.
  • Safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Blueprint and schematic reading.
  • Troubleshooting and repair techniques for residential plumbing.
Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience. 

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in residential plumbing service and repair.
  • Valid State Journeyman or Master Plumber License.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher in Plumbing Technology, Construction, or related field.
  • Prior teaching or training experience in an industrial, technical, or vocational setting.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
