Job Description:

The Dental Sciences division at Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking applicants for an Associate Professor, Dental Assistant. The instructor will be responsible for development of course content, as well as teaching didactically and in lab settings. The instructor will also be responsible for evaluating students at clinic rotations in dental offices will be required.  

Candidates should possess working knowledge of dental procedures, ethical obligations, OSHA and HIPAA regulations as they pertain to patient care. Strong clinical assisting skills and expanded function abilities are required. Candidate will work closely with students and other faculty so strong interpersonal skills and open communication are a must.

The instructor will report directly to the Program Director and will work in tandem with dental sciences colleagues and receive support from the administrative assistant as required.

The instructor is accountable to the department chair for the fulfillment of his or her function, responsibilities, authority and relationships, and for their proper interpretation. The instructor may assign to members of the organization appropriate portions of his or her responsibility together with corresponding authority for their fulfillment, but may not delegate or relinquish his or her responsibility.

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with experience and education.  

Minimum Requirements:

Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) with three(3) years clinical dental assisting experience and a Bachelor's Degree (or currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program). 

Candidates also considered include: DS/DMD or a Bachelor’s Degree RDH (RDH/CDA); three (3) years clinical experience beyond the degree. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching experience preferred; licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of South Carolina.
