Job Description:

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown.

Horry-Georgetown Technical College seeks a fulltime Associate Professor, Diagnostic Medical Sonography Clinical Coordinator. The professor/clinical coordinator is accountable to the department chair for the fulfillment of his or her job functions, responsibilities, authority and relationships, and for their proper interpretation. The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for facilitating students’ clinical education through planning, coordinating, and monitoring activities on behalf of the academic program. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties;

  • Assist with the development and assessment of the assigned education components of the curriculum.
  • Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction
  • Develop course syllabi, goals and objectives
  • Coordinate and implement clinical education components of the curriculum including site placements, site visits, and evaluation.
  • Ensure clinical education program compliance
  • Maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate
  • Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences
  • Provide academic advisement to students

Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, student advisement and clinical travel.  Must be willing to travel to clinical affiliate sites to monitor students on a regular basis.

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must possess an academic degree no lower than an associate degree, however, a bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Must possess current ARDMS or ARRT credential(s) in abdominal, OB/GYN, and vascular ultrasound specialties.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
